SSL Checker - Verify SSL Certificate
Check the status of the SSL certificate for any domain. Find out the issuer, expiration date, TLS protocol, cipher suite, and whether your site is properly protected with HTTPS encryption.
How to use SSL Checker to verify an SSL certificate?
SSL Checker verifies an SSL certificate for any domain in 3 steps: 1) Enter the domain in the field (e.g. yourdomain.com) — without https:// or www prefix. 2) Click Check — the tool connects to the server and analyzes the SSL handshake. 3) Review the result: certificate status (valid/expired/invalid), issuer (Let's Encrypt, DigiCert, Sectigo), expiration date with days remaining, TLS protocol (ideally TLS 1.3), cipher suite (AES-256-GCM or ChaCha20-Poly1305), Subject Alternative Names (all domains covered by the certificate), and serial number. Useful when: diagnosing HTTPS issues after migration, checking when the certificate expires, verifying whether the site uses a modern TLS 1.3 connection, or planning renewal. BeoHosting hosting plans from $4.66/month include free AutoSSL (Let's Encrypt) with automatic renewal 30 days before expiration.
- Status, issuer, expiration date, and TLS protocol check
- Instant result — no registration, 100% free
- TLS 1.3 + AES-256-GCM = the safest connection
- BeoHosting AutoSSL (Let's Encrypt) from $4.66/month

What to look for in an SSL certificate?
Understanding SSL parameters helps ensure your site's security.
Certificate status
Check whether the certificate is valid and not expired. A certificate expiring in less than 30 days should be renewed urgently.
Issuer
Trusted issuers: Let's Encrypt, DigiCert, Comodo/Sectigo, GlobalSign. Avoid self-signed certificates for public sites.
TLS protocol
Use TLS 1.3 (fastest and most secure) or at minimum TLS 1.2. TLS 1.0 and 1.1 are deprecated and insecure.
Cipher suite
Recommended ciphers: AES-256-GCM, ChaCha20-Poly1305. Avoid RC4, 3DES, and other deprecated algorithms.
Subject Alternative Names
Check that the certificate covers all domain variants (with and without www, subdomains) you use.
Key size
Minimum 2048-bit RSA or 256-bit ECDSA key. Larger key = greater security but also greater overhead.
Common SSL problems and solutions
The most common problems with SSL certificates and how to solve them.
SSL certificate expired
"The browser shows a \"Your connection is not private\" error. Visitors cannot access the site without manually bypassing the warning. Google also deindexes sites with expired SSL."
Solution: Renew the SSL certificate. On BeoHosting, AutoSSL automatically renews the free certificate before expiration. If you use a commercial certificate, renew it with the provider and install the new one.
Mixed content
The site uses HTTPS, but some resources (images, scripts, fonts) are loaded over HTTP. The browser shows an insecure connection warning or blocks insecure resources.
Solution: "Change all resource URLs from http:// to https:// or use relative paths (//). On WordPress, the \"Really Simple SSL\" plugin automatically solves this problem."
Certificate does not cover the domain
The SSL certificate is issued for one domain (e.g. www.site.com) but the site opens on another (e.g. site.com without www). The browser shows a name mismatch error.
Solution: Use an SSL certificate that covers both domain forms (with and without www). Let's Encrypt and AutoSSL automatically generate a certificate for both variants. Alternatively, set up a 301 redirect.
Outdated TLS protocol
The site uses TLS 1.0 or TLS 1.1 which are deprecated and insecure. Modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox) block connections to sites with a TLS version lower than 1.2.
Solution: Configure the server to use TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3. On BeoHosting, all servers already use TLS 1.3 with the latest cipher suites for maximum security.
SSL Checker - How to verify and understand your site's SSL certificate
An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate is a digital certificate that encrypts communication between a web browser and the server. When a visitor accesses an SSL-protected site, all exchanged data (passwords, personal information, card numbers) is protected with 256-bit encryption that is practically impossible to decrypt.
Our SSL Checker tool enables a quick check of the SSL certificate for any domain. You can see: whether the certificate is valid or expired, who issued the certificate, which TLS protocol and cipher are used, how many days until expiration, and which domains the certificate covers. This information is crucial for diagnosing security issues and ensuring your site is properly protected.
Free SSL on BeoHosting
All BeoHosting hosting plans include a free SSL certificate via the AutoSSL system. AutoSSL automatically generates, installs, and renews the SSL certificate for all domains on your hosting account — you don't have to configure anything. The certificate uses the TLS 1.3 protocol and 256-bit encryption, providing the same level of security as commercial certificates costing $50-200 per year.
For e-commerce sites and businesses that want a higher level of validation, we also offer commercial SSL certificates with the EV (Extended Validation) option which displays the company name in the browser and comes with a financial guarantee of up to $1,750,000.
