An email forwarder automatically sends incoming email to another address — useful for routing info@yourdomain.com to your personal Gmail, consolidating multiple inboxes, or creating role-based addresses without separate mailboxes. This guide shows how to set up forwarders in cPanel, configure a catch-all address, and avoid spam pitfalls.

How to Set Up Email Forwarder

Open Forwarders in cPanel

cPanel → Email → Forwarders. You see existing forwarders and options to add new ones. Two types: "Forwarders" (single address) and "Forward All Email to Domain" (catch-all).

Create a single address forwarder

Click "Add Forwarder". Enter the address (e.g. info) and destination (e.g. yourname@gmail.com). Click "Add Forwarder". Any email to info@yourdomain.com now forwards to your Gmail.

Set up a catch-all forwarder

For "anything@yourdomain.com" → forward all. Click "Add Domain Forwarder" or "Default Address" → set "Forward to email address". Catch-all catches typos but also catches spam.

Verify forwarding works

Send a test email to info@yourdomain.com. Check destination inbox — should arrive in 1-2 minutes. If not, check spam folder first, then verify destination is correct.

Handle SPF/DKIM/DMARC for forwarded mail

When you forward, SPF/DKIM from original sender may break. Modern providers (Gmail, Outlook) handle via SRS (Sender Rewriting Scheme). If forwarded mail bounces or goes to spam, configure SRS or use ImprovMX.

Use forwarders for role-based addresses

Create info@, support@, sales@, careers@ — each forwarding to one or multiple destinations. Customers see professional addresses, you read everything in one inbox.
